Now that you have a mortgage approval in place and signed off on all of the purchase agreement conditions, you’re closer to taking possession of your new home! There are a few more steps to take before possession day. Here’s a list of the next steps so you can be better prepared:
□ Confirm the details of your mortgage and the signing processes with The Biggar Team. Depending on the lender you are set up with, signing instructions will vary.
□ Schedule an appointment with your lawyer. The lender will send the mortgage instructions to your lawyer’s office once all of your mortgage conditions have been met. Touch base with your lawyer to arrange an appointment to sign the mortgage instructions.
□ Arrange for evidence of home insurance before the closing appointment at the lawyer’s office. Your insurance agent will know what is needed.
□ If you are transferring funds among accounts, allow for several days for the financial institution to process the transaction. Your lawyer will let you know the balance required to complete the transaction.
□ Arrange for the transfer of utility services to the new home. This includes power, gas, phone number, internet provider/satellite provider and municipal services. Check out our moving directory.
